In 2004, Vic Leupold and Lee Brohel saw lots of potential in Discount Windows. When they bought it, it was a one man shop with a big sign, “Call XXX-XXXX and we will open.” The business consisted of the old brown jug gas station building and about 1,000 overstock windows on the corner of Ivy and 17th in Junction City. Right away, they created regular hours of operation and had 3 salesmen and a bookkeeper to professionalize the business.
On the 10 year anniversary, in 2014, the business had expanded to providing custom order windows, doors, trim and molding from over 10 major manufacturers; a thriving statewide installation department; deliveries to Oregon, Southwestern Washington and Northern California; and those 1,000 windows had grown to almost 7,000 overstock pieces. Kemp’s Windows was founded by two brothers, Donald & Reggie Kemp, and Donald’s wife, Valerie, in July of 1979, producing and installing interior and exterior storm windows. Although we continue to be a family owned and operated company, we decided to become a Sub S corporation in 1984 adding the “Inc.” to our name.
