We are located on the waterfront in the Historic District of Greenpoint, the northernmost neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Once a Mecca for shipbuilding, with over 70% of world’s ships being built right here, including the USS Monitor. Over the years Greenpoint has been home to industry, riots, artists, squatters, and one of the largest single disaster fires in New York City. Greenpoint’s historic district boasts over 300 buildings dating back to 1890. NYC Tattoo Shop™ is located in one of them – at 42 West Street, a piece of the historic complex of warehouses on the Brooklyn Waterfront. Daniel “Zhimpa” Moreno is a Peruvian Tattoo Artist based in New York with over 19 years of experience in the tattoo industry He got his start studying at the school of Bellas Artes in Perú with the intent of developing his skills in painting; however, the allure of creating beautiful pieces of art customized and immortalized for his clients became his focus. After single-handedly opening his first shop, the trials of being a new artist bloomed into a unique style that became quite popular. The quest to immerse himself in and evolve as an artist lead Zhimpa to local conventions that developed both his method as well as introduce him to a group of artists that would join him at Zhimpa Tattoos. This dedication would lend itself into creating one of the premier tattoo studios in Lima. Zhimpa’s method of mixing realism, fantasy, and movie portraits to achieve exceptional compositions earned him the attention of the media; empowering Zhimpa into participating in a multitude of social events which garnered being interviewed by magazines and newspapers. This attention saw Zhimpa’s popularity increase exponentially. He has achieved several Awards in some of the most important conventions in the EU, US, & South America. In his pursuit to advance his developing art he decided to move to New York, where he earned a spot at the legendary studio Last Rights, along with Paul Booth. It was within Last Rites where Zhimpa would become good friends with Darwin Enriquez. Over the next few years, they decided to embark on their own adventure to create a studio together; Inknation Tattoo Studio. Looking forward, alongside other talented artists, they have set their sights on becoming one of the greatest tattoo studios in New York City.

In November 2005, Mike Rubendall established the first Kings Avenue Tattoo location in Long Island, New York. The goal was to create one of the most influential tattoos studios in the world, right in his small hometown of Massapequa. – Our mission is to blend parts of the past and the future, and for our work to express strong historical connections with a unique, modern twist. – Our vision is to advance the art form. We are committed to creating one-of-a-kind tattoos designed specifically for each individual, alongside an unparalleled client experience. At its inception, the shop featured just three artists, but as the demand for Kings Avenue Tattoo designs grew, the need for more artists – and a second location – became inevitable. Kings Avenue Tattoo NYC opened its doors in April 2011 on the street that played a formative role in tattoo history, The Bowery, which overlooks some of Manhattan’s most prominent cultural centers. As the two busy shops drew increasing respect and critical acclaim throughout the industry, Kings Avenue’s family of artists expanded. More than a dozen resident artists, in addition to a rotation of sought-after guests – including Tim Hendricks, Horitomo, and Henning Jorgensen – have worked with clients across the globe, catapulting Kings Avenue into the top-tier of tattoo studios. But even as our family continues to grow in both size and reputation, Kings Avenue remains focused on integrity and quality, The professional artists at Kings Avenue are hand-selected from all over the world and specialize in many styles, ranging from Japanese, American traditional, black and gray, to realism. They thrive on creating unique and original works of art. Our tattooers have been shaped into who they are partly due to an unwavering commitment to their core values.
East Side Ink is one of the oldest tattoo shops in NYC, originally opened in 1992 when tattooing was still illegal. World-renowned tattoo artist Andrea Elston first opened the shop in the heart of the East Village, down a few stairs, on a side street, hidden from the beaten path. The shop catered exclusively to bikers and hard-core body-art aficionados. East Side Ink quickly developed a reputation as New York City’s premier parlor for custom tattoos. In 2007, Josh Lord partnered up with industry veterans Yadira Mendez-Firvida and Jen Terban-Hertell to continue the legacy. Today, the shop caters to everyone from neighborhood punks to Oscar-Winning celebrities. On any given day, you might find your favorite actor or musician getting tattooed right next to neighborhood regulars. A true New York experience!! Still! East Side Ink has some of the best tattoo artists in the biz. You won’t find flash on the walls, it remains a custom shop to this day. East Side Ink also offers laser tattoo removal and Microblading, a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that reconstructs the eyebrow. East Side Ink is committed to artistic excellence and one-of-a-kind custom pieces. Whatever your vision, East Side Ink will turn it into a work of art you’ll love and proudly wear forever.

All artists at this studio are seasoned professionals who consistently create clean custom tattoos. The artists specialize in American and Asian traditional, illustrative and micro-style tattoos. Our shop is spacious, bright, clean and above all comfortable. From 10 foot ceilings to our open lounge area with T.V. and darts, our space is pretty f’ing chill. We use high quality equipment and materials for our tattoos and piercings so the only thing you'll have to think about is how good you'll look when we’re done. Yes, but you can take it… and it’s not that bad anyway. Besides, it only hurts about as bad as a cat scratch, (well, a bunch of them), but once it’s done you have amazing art on your body forever, art you will take pride in. You can also take pride in the fact that you endured the pain. We have a minimum of $100 for any tattoo. This is to cover the cost of the supplies involved in the procedure, overhead and the tattoo artist's time. If the tattoo takes longer than an hour an hourly rate will apply. Piercings are $50, which includes basic jewelry. We accept cash and credit cards for payments and tips. To get a tattoo in New York you have to be at least 18 years old and you have to show ID. Parents or legal guardians cannot vouch for minors. When you are ready to get tattooed you can either walk into the shop or set up an appointment by calling 917-261-7028 or using the “Schedule An Appointment” button at the bottom of this webpage. For larger pieces your first appointment may only be a consultation with the artist, (it is not guaranteed that you will get tattooed that day). Caring for your tattoo while it's healing is the best way to insure it will look good for life. Follow these instructions to make sure your tattoo gets the best care.

Young has been drawing all of her life. As a graduate of Chugye University for the Arts in South Korea that lifelong passion lead to her learning the art of tattooing in 2009. What started off as just a hobby soon erupted into a passion and into a career – she appreciates the art form and embraces it. Not only do tattoos represent a great piece of art but Young knows that tattoos express one's feelings and emotions through an illustration. This is where Young differentiates herself among other tattooists. Young has the ability to take anyone's words and thoughts and turn them into a body of art, literally. She is an artist first and foremost and with her vast knowledge in the field she is able to give her clients the right direction when it comes to choosing the right tattoo. She always gives 100 percent and has the ability to make the right adjustments to suit any and all types of clients and canvases. She takes pride in her artwork and will not stop until she gets it right – after all you'll be wearing her artwork everywhere as a walking-canvas for the world to see.
