Stay Gold has its beginnings with its previous incarnation - Ten in One (est. 2000). In 2004, due to renovations and demolitions happening in the "Brick Light District", then partners Leo Gonzales and Dano Sanchez moved across the street to a new location. Partnering up with Mike "Giant" Lesage & Steve Truitt. By chance and fortune, a location was found across the street on Gold Street. Relieved by getting to stay in the neighborhood, the shop was renamed Stay Gold. While the partners went on to pursue their own endeavors, Leo Gonzales retained ownership of Stay Gold and the shop has seen a number of incredible talents within its walls. From a world class pedigree of in house artists to a number of world-renown guest artists, Stay Gold is here to meet the needs of the tattoo community. Specializing in a large variety of styles and backgrounds, we are dedicated to giving each and every one of our clients the very best custom designed tattoo possible. From full body suit work to the simplest walk-in tattoo!

71 Tattoo was founded in August of 2006 by Marty Williams. Marty has been tattooing for over 17 years, having apprenticed under Brian Everett , Mr Max, and Jaime Trujillo at Route 66 Fine Line Tattoo in the early 90’s. After cutting his chops, and learning the ropes, he and Jaime moved to Seattle in 1996, and opened Chrome Ohm Tattoo in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, where they tattooed many of the neighborhood’s eclectic musicians, artists and students. Marty owned and operated Chrome Ohm from October 1996 to October 2003, ready for a drier climate, and less expensive living costs, he sold his share of the shop and moved back to his hometown of Albuquerque NM. After working with old friends, to re-establish himself in Albuquerque, he set out to once again open his own studio. After much research, he settled on a location in Albuquerque’s NE Heights neighborhood, seeing that it is densely populated, a great, upscale client base, and no other tattoo studios in the neighborhood. Work began in earnest in June of 2006, and after a complete re-model of the location, 71 Tattoo opened its doors to the NE Heights, and greater Albuquerque area on August 12th 2006 Since its opening, 71 Tattoo has provided Albuquerque with the highest quality custom tattoo work, done in a friendly, state-of-the-art sterile environment, we provide clients with the ability to pull off any style they could possibly want. 71 Tattoo prides itself on customer service, and encourages custom work, we do not steer clients toward acres of regurgitated flash, we work with a client to design something they’ll be happy with years down the road. We provide awesome, custom tattoo work, and artwork, done for a reasonable cost, with a friendly attitude. Its been a good formula for success. We feel by providing top notch service like this, people will come back, and we are now entering year 7.

A forward-thinking tattoo studio/art gallery focused on bringing the ritual and spiritual nature back to the art of Modern Western Tattooing. We are a shop that embraces family and ethics, and understand the importance of upholding this craft and its history. With over 25 years of community experience here in Albuquerque, this is a new beautiful space with an established name in the heart of Albuquerque's shopping district. Tattooing has been in my blood ever since I can remember. In this industry now for 29 plus years, tattooing is my legacy, my life's blood, my mark on society. Working in Albuquerque for the bulk of my career, I have tattooed in some of the best, high profile shops in the southwest. I have travelled across many states, tattooing many fine people along the way. In 2010 I opened Archetype with the intention of providing the highest quality tattooing, but also a gallery outlet for many of the areas local artists who deserve exposure. I have since opened my new shop The Divine Eye. I have been a member of the NM Body Art rule making committee, and prior to that, served as treasurer of the NM Coalition of Tattooists and Piercers. Tattooing is not only about the highest aesthetic quality of a piece, but also upholding ethics and proper safety standards. I strive to be a Professional in an industry where the word, unfortunately, is much too loosely used. It’s up to you, as the consumer, to change that! Please come and join the Divine Eye Family.

Hey, this is me. I’m not going to sit here and give you a typical biography about how long I’ve been tattooing or my history. To me it’s all about what tattooing means - it’s my love, my passion, my life. I live the tattoo artist lifestyle, I live at my studio, and without it, I am not me. I can appreciate any well done tattoo, but I really love that feeling when you look at a tattoo and you get the same feeling you get when you look at a famous painting. There’s so much more that clicks in your brain about the tattoo though, because it’s on a living canvas. It flows with the muscle structure, the curves of the body, where as your typical canvas is just flat. I think, as a true tattoo artist, one of the things that pushes me is the desire to not be forgotten - any artist can paint a painting, and it will hang in a gallery or museum for years to come but it’s another thing to be remembered on someone else’s body, under their skin. Your name will still be brought up, and where, in a way, you’re still living vicariously through someone else long after they’ve left the chair. It’s a fear and it’s a passion. It’s a double edge sword. That’s my name on someone else’s body. Someone sat down in my chair, someone that I’ve never met before or I’ve only talked to for a few minutes in consultations. They sat down and trusted me, not only as an artist but as a human being, and you have to respect and honor that. You can’t let them down.
