    Charlotte Country Day School

We offer students and their families an unsurpassed opportunity to prepare for the future—an opportunity grounded in the strength of tradition and shaped by generations of visionary leaders. Here, you’ll find a profound commitment to lifelong learning, hands-on experiences, individualized attention, and a caring, inclusive community. Country Day is the only independent school in the region to have a separate campus for Middle School students. From vocal and instrumental music to single-gender math classes, the curriculum is designed to support students during these transitional years. Country Day offers bus transportation services to a variety of locations throughout Charlotte. For convenience, we also offer a morning and afternoon shuttle service between both Cannon and Bissell campuses. In 1941, Country Day’s founding headmaster, Dr. Thomas Burton, brought a new concept in education to Charlotte. Considered an original and progressive educator by his peers, Dr. Burton believed passionately in the value of independent day schools, and quickly rallied some of Charlotte’s most prominent leaders around his vision. For more than 80 years, Country Day has continued to build on our long legacy of firsts among the Charlotte region’s independent schools, introducing groundbreaking programs and progressive ideas.

    Hickory Grove Christian School

Over the last several years, Hickory Grove Christian School (HGCS) has sought to be a school that offers an authentic brand of a gospel-centered education that is compassionate but convictional in its approach. This year is unique in that we reflect on the blessings that we have received from our Lord by celebrating not just another year since our inception in 1995 but one that allowed us to open safely in the midst of a global pandemic. We look backward to the blessings and look forward to embracing the challenges that are ahead of us. HGCS endeavors to honor our Lord by offering a comprehensive program that meets our spiritual goals while not compromising our rigorous academic program, the celebrated athletic program, and the stunning art program on display here. The finished product, the students that we serve, has demonstrated over and over that we have met those goals consistently. In 2021 alone, 66 graduates tallied over $6 million in scholarships with 188 college acceptances to 82 different colleges and universities. While not all of our students receive large amounts of scholarship dollars to further their education, we provide ALL students a rigorous education that prepares them for life while exposing them to a gospel-centered education for the duration of their time at HGCS. Academically, we produced 9 AP Capstone Diploma graduates, gave over 154 AP exams, provided outstanding performing arts and play productions, and successfully achieved literary accomplishments with our yearbook. We offer a variety of sports that continually produces state championship teams and individual championships. Still, more importantly, these students have been challenged to live out their faith in the spirit of performance and competition while providing them the opportunity to use their gifts as a platform to share their faith with others. Missionally, we have developed formal and informal partnerships centered around aquaponics with people in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, and Kenya. In addition, we have developed long-term relationships with students from the Bahamas, China, Congo, El Salvador, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, South Korea, and Vietnam. We have endeavored to make HGCS a school that lives "on mission" by exalting Christ in all that we do, whether through our Chapel services, day-to-day discussions in our classrooms, or rigorous Bible education. This missional philosophy focusing on a Biblical worldview has been accomplished while demonstrating that we are genuinely different...we are indeed an authentic, Gospel-centered institution. We sincerely appreciate your desire to explore Hickory Grove Christian School and its rich history since 1995 for your child's education. It would be an honor to partner with you on this journey!

    Brookstone Schools

At Brookstone, we know that all children bear God’s image. We partner with under-resourced families to educate children spiritually, socially, and academically. In 1996, a diverse group of concerned citizens came together with a vision to found a non-profit, Christ-centered school in Charlotte’s urban core. Their task was to provide quality education and moral teaching to under-resourced students; their hope was in God’s protection and provision to make it happen. From a seed planted in prayer, the school opened its doors in 2001 and has blossomed to become a beacon for under-resourced children in Charlotte, NC. To glorify God by equipping under-resourced students academically, socially, and spiritually for future lives of leadership and service. To raise up the next generation of leaders from Charlotte to engage their generation for Jesus Christ. - We believe that the Old and New Testament are inspired by God and are the final authority in faith and life. - We believe that God in the person of the Holy Spirit convicts, teaches, and empowers those who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. -We believe that as the body of Christ we are called to serve one another in love. - We believe that academic excellence equips students to glorify God through the vocation in which they will be led to serve. - We believe a Christ-centered education will produce the next generation of culture-shaping leaders. - We believe parents are vital partners in providing the nurture, support, and modeling crucial character formation.

    Trinity Christian Preparatory School

TrinityPrep is not just an ordinary school. We are a family, and we educate the whole student: academically, socially, and emotionally. TrinityPrep offers small class sizes, hands-on curriculum, and individualized instruction. We don’t give busy work. We deliver flexible, creative lesson plans and provide ample communication with families about their student’s progress. A typical class includes 15 minutes of instruction, 15 minutes of hands-on application, and 15 minutes of Q and A to ensure that students understand the material. Three times per week, our teachers are available after school for plenty of extra academic help. Our students thrive when they have teachers who believe in them. The result is that grades rise, confidence increases, and students begin to take more ownership over their lives. Our students enjoy coming to school, which brings more peace into their home lives. They have new hope for their future, and are prepared for college and beyond. Many students come to us who were bullied or who didn’t feel like they fit in at their other schools. In our environment, students start to feel accepted and celebrated for who they really are. Whether at the beginning or in the middle of the year, new students are able to quickly find a place where they belong. Throughout the year we host team building days off campus, and provide many ways for students to feel included and to connect with other students. Examples include: theatre productions, basketball, cross-country, clubs, and student government. TrinityPrep is known for its caring, positive community which serves its students’ emotional needs. Regularly our students hear from local counselors on topics such as: strategies for dealing with anxiety, developing healthy relationships, managing their thought life, positive digital citizenship, and much more. Each student also receives one “encouraging word” throughout the year. Encouraging words are affirmations spoken to them by their teachers publicly, recognizing who they are and all the positive things about them as a person. Through the support of their teachers and peers, our students are able to peel back old, false labels and believe in themselves. TrinityPrep is a private school in Charlotte, NC which serves students in grades 8-12. We were established in 1994 and offer an accredited, well-rounded, college-prep program. Students come to us from all over the Charlotte area and beyond. We welcome students from all backgrounds and faiths.

    Northside Christian Academy

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the Head of School for Northside Christian Academy. I am truly excited to be a part of this extraordinary school community. I pray that this message finds you and your family doing well during these challenging times that we are all experiencing. I can assure you that I share in this school community’s commitment to caring for your children each and every day while providing them a world-class learning environment. I come to you as a seasoned educational leader, but in addition to my role as an educator, I am first and foremost a man who loves God, a loving husband, and proud father of three amazing young boys. My family and I are excited to be here and are looking forward to being a part of Northside’s bright future. The 2021-2022 school year will mark my 19th year in education. Since graduating from the University at Buffalo where I earned my Masters in Secondary Social Studies education and Canisius College where I earned my School Building Leadership (SBL) certification, I have had the opportunity to serve as a high school Social Studies teacher for 8 years and then as a school building administrator for the next ten years. The rich experiences of my past have helped shape me into the leader that I am today. What you are getting in your head of school is a visionary leader who is student-centered and one who believes in the power of developing healthy relationships and partnerships with all stakeholders. I am also very committed to always exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students and to more effectively communicate with parents and community members. In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I am confident that as we partner together, we will make Northside stronger. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes throughout the 2021-2022 school year. Sincerely, Mr. Andre Thomas
