Dear Visitors, Welcome to Seattle Country Day School (SCDS). Our K–8 program exists to serve the learning and emotional needs of gifted children in Seattle and its surrounding communities. Since 1964, we have guided and challenged students whose needs are not always met in the traditional classroom environment. On September 9, 1981, Westside School started as the Westside School for Young Children. It was founded by a group of educators and parents who wanted a positive and self-esteem building school experience for their children. The program grew steadily and Westside moved many times over the following years, outgrowing building after building as more students enrolled. Following a successful Capital Campaign that raised more than 4.2 million dollars, construction began early in 2013 on a complete renovation of the former Hillcrest Presbyterian Church in West Seattle’s Arbor Heights neighborhood. This space became our permanent home for our preschool through eighth grade programs. The new space is a naturally lit, child-centered, creative building that provides a collaborative learning environment for Westside School’s permanent home. The Concordia community began in 1906 in the Central District of Seattle at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Later on, the school moved to Trinity Lutheran Church in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. In the late 50s, the school transitioned to Wedgwood where one of our campuses is currently located. An addition and full size gymnasium was built in the 1970’s to accommodate the growing student body. Lamb of God Preschool in the Lake City neighborhood joined our Concordia community in 2011.
