    Brookfield Private School

Brookfield Private School Sacramento is a thriving independent, co-educational, college preparatory private elementary school, serving children in Preschool through eighth grade. The private school is best known for its rigorous accelerated curriculum and emphasis on character development. Brookfield’s primary purpose is to prepare our students to become independent thinkers, responsible citizens, and effective leaders. To achieve this purpose, the curriculum is challenging and balanced, class sizes are small, and students are held to high academic and behavioral standards. This provides a solid foundation for high school, college, and post graduate studies. At Brookfield School we strive to inspire our students to “Rise to the Challenge” every day. This year Brookfield is continuing to meet the challenges of COVID-19. The classroom environment is safe as possible with small class sizes, an iWave air purification system for each classroom, fully implemented safety procedures, and individually assigned Chromebooks for each student. Our large campus and regulation U12 soccer field give students plenty of room to play safely outdoors, and the electrostatic virus controlling misters we use help to control all of the viruses children may spread on the climbing equipment, not just COVID. We understand the importance of listening to the needs of both students as well as the parents. Communication between parents and teachers is key to a child’s overall success, and at Brookfield School we encourage a partnership fostered by communication and active listening. Before and after school, or by email, our teachers and administration are available to address questions and concerns. We strive for an open forum in which everyone can be heard. Listen to real parents give real stories and testimonials of why Brookfield is the choice for their child. See what makes Brookfield Private School Sacramento stand apart from the rest!

    Camellia Waldorf School

Camellia Waldorf School educates by honoring childhood, appreciating the individuality of each student, and instilling a sense of moral and ethical responsibility while building capacities for learning and encouraging clear and creative thinking. Critical thinking skills, emotional and social intelligence and kinesthetic, hands-on learning are cornerstones of Waldorf education. Waldorf education cultivates three principal faculties in children: thinking, feeling, and doing, often described as “head, heart, and hands.” Head refers to the ability to think clearly and independently. Heart refers to the capacity for feeling emotionally connected to one’s work and the world at large. Hands refers to the willingness to take action to achieve one’s goals and to contribute to the world. Waldorf education is also designed to produce balanced, well-rounded individuals, with a curriculum that is both integrated and developmentally appropriate. By integrating academic learning, physical activity, appreciation for all subjects and moral responsibility, it cultivates the body, mind and spirit. It is also highly cognizant of the various stages of children’s development, meeting and challenging students in ways most suited to the child’s particular age and experience. Waldorf education answers the call of forward-thinking families who sense that their children will need more than just a store of information to succeed in our rapidly changing world. Camellia families understand that children will need to distinguish themselves as superior critical thinkers and creative problem solvers, not merely good test-takers. They also want their children to achieve a high degree of satisfaction in life. They seek to empower their children first to know their own hearts and then to venture forth to contribute to the world in various ways. Camellia families perceive Waldorf education as an environment that delivers in all areas that are most important to them when they think about the future, long-term success of their children. During times like Covid-19 Waldorf education is designed to adapt. Here at Camellia Waldorf we have implemented a homeschool program, and a distance learning program. Resiliency and core capacities are a hallmark of Waldorf education and at Camellia we are committed to creating a rich rewarding educational experience for our students even during these difficult times.

    Merryhill Elementary & Middle School

Dear Parent, Since 1949, Merryhill Schools have provided high quality private education for children in the Sacramento area. In 2013, we continued the tradition by opening our new flagship school here in Midtown. The historic Newton Booth School building was renovated to accommodate 400 students in junior kindergarten through eighth grade and includes a digital media studio, gymnasium, three outdoor play areas and a well-equipped technology center. We take pride in our rigorous, standards-based curriculum, while creating a fun learning environment. Our curriculum was designed by our education department, a team of highly-skilled experts in curriculum design, instruction and assessment. We provide opportunities for students to master skills, problem solve, make positive decisions, and practice higher level thinking. Teachers personalize lessons to ensure that instruction is stimulating and challenging for each student. We believe that beyond the core subjects, classes in art, music, technology, Spanish and physical education are essential to educating the whole child. Rich and challenging content is the foundation of our curriculum; however, students need more than academic knowledge to achieve future success. We create dynamic and innovative projects that incorporate the development of 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration and creativity. Our teachers use learning activities and technology to connect students to the real world, integrate across subject areas, and allow students to initiate, plan and manage projects. In September 2021, our school was again recognized as an Apple Distinguished School from 2021-2024, a three year designation. Click here to view our Apple Distinguished School infographic from our most recent recognition to learn more about teaching, learning, and innovation here at Merryhill Midtown. Click here to view our multi-touch book or here to check out a non-interactive PDF version from our previous Apple Distinguished School recognition from 2018-2021. Learning and enrichment continue before and after school. Our after school program runs from 7:00 to 8:10 am and from 3:45 to 6:00 pm, and includes fun and educational activities such as art, music, drama, design, cooking and sports. We understand life can be hectic, and we are here to accommodate your busy schedule. Our teachers and administration share a commitment to providing an outstanding educational experience for every child. We look forward to meeting with you, gaining an understanding of your child’s educational needs, and discussing how we can meet them. In the meantime, follow us on Facebook to see some of the exciting activities going on at our school. Sincerely, - Rachel Kennedy

    Presentation School

Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish and School were founded in 1961 when Monsignor Cornelius Higgins, Diocesan Chancellor, arranged for its establishment on 6.5 acres of property on the corner of Norris and Robertson avenues in Sacramento. Monsignor Higgins, who would later become the first Pastor, arranged for a community of Presentation Sisters from Cork, Ireland, to staff the yet-to-be built school and for the parish to be named “Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.” The first Mass was said on February 16, 1961, and the gigantic task of building a convent, school and temporary church was undertaken. Largely as the result of volunteer labor, the convent was completed when the Sisters arrived on August 22, 1961. The school was ready for classes in September, and the first Mass was celebrated in the temporary church (now the gymnasium) on October 1, 1961. Fundraising efforts began in earnest within the parish community. By the time Monsignor Higgins left in 1968, the debt had been retired. The new church was erected and dedicated by Bishop Alden J. Bell on May 11, 1975. The Presentation Sisters, for whom the Parish was named, left the area in 1991. Today, the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, continue the legacy of the founding order. These Sisters partner with lay staff to create a dynamic, Christ-centered, authentically Catholic experience for our PBVM children.

    Trinity Christian School

The home, the church and the school should compliment each other, promoting the student’s spiritual, academic, social, and physical growth. Learning involves interaction between people. A well-rounded education involves exposure to a variety of cultures, ideas, and issues; all of which are to be interpreted by the light of God’s Word. God has given differing abilities to each student. It is the staff’s responsibility to stimulate and challenge each student according to his/her ability while seeking to develop the student’s full potential. Trinity Christian School will offer the best educational opportunities possible, using the finest facilities and equipment that the constituency can afford. Every instructor shall be encouraged in professional growth. New ideas in education will be considered if they can improve the program of the school and remain consistent with its mission. The student’s home, church, and school experiences should be a preparation for a life of fellowship with God through Jesus Christ and service to Him and our fellow man. Evaluation and assessment of our education and spiritual programs, as evidence in the lives of Trinity’s graduates, is necessary for continued improvement toward meeting the needs of our students.

    Sacramento Country Day School

Sacramento Country Day is a very special place. As a school we combine the qualities of community – knowing, loving, and appreciating each and every student for his or her unique gifts - while also providing the finest educational experience in the Sacramento region. Country Day students achieve the highest test scores, receive numerous awards, and 100% of our graduates matriculate to top colleges and universities across the state and nation. However, it is not just these accomplishments that define what it means to be a Country Day student; being a student at Country Day means being part of a diverse, inclusive and supportive community. Whether in our Lower School, Middle School and High School, one of the hallmarks of the Country Day advantage is that our students know they can count on a community where all members feel appreciated, respected, and safe. And, because our students learn how to contribute meaningfully to the lives of others, the impacts of a Country Day education extend far beyond the school’s doors. As a young man I was fascinated with Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of Italy. One quotation attributed to him reads, “Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” That’s what we do every day. Our spectacular faculty and staff nurture, believe in, and challenge your children to reach beyond what they know they can do to achieve what they don’t yet know they can do – “the impossible.” And that is the essence of Sacramento Country Day. Kind regards, - Lee Thomsen
