    91st Psalm Christian School

Was established in 1984 as a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade program. 91st Psalm has been a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) since 1996. As a ministry of SouthGate Church of Phoenix, we are a Bible-based, non-denominational, multi-cultural Christian school located at the foothills of South Mountain in the South Mountain Village Community. We strive to be a long-term asset to our community. We believe that it is our God given responsibility to educate our children spiritually, morally, intellectually, and physically. Because of this, it is our mission to raise Godly servant leaders who will positively and eternally impact the world for Christ. Our student-to-teacher ratio is usually no more than 20:1. Our teachers have the opportunity to develop working relationships with each student and instruct each one according to their individual needs. We foster a safe, disciplined, wholesome, peaceful, positive, and encouraging environment that nurtures lasting relationships. We have a team of quality, caring, and committed faculty members. Our average faculty/staff member has been a part of our school for ten years. Our curriculum is driven by STUDENT success, NOT testing success. Our teachers succeed in equipping students with the tools necessary to be successful in college and beyond. The focus is NOT about the next upcoming test; it is about students gaining mastery of the material they are taught. Our curriculum includes the following publishers: A Beka, Bob Jones University Press, and ACSI.

    Phoenix Christian School PreK-8

In 1958, a group of Christian parents from the Phoenix Christian Reformed Church committed themselves to educating their children within a framework of God’s truth. The first classes were held at the current site for nearly 60 students in 1959. By 1972, enrollment had grown to 150 students and a five-classroom building was added. Over the years, various adjacent lots and residences have been acquired for school use. The school is currently on 5+ acres of land, has three educational buildings that include PreK – 8 classrooms, a media center, a music room, and a kitchen. In May 2011, a gymnasium was built on the school grounds to enrich our physical education program as well as our after-school sports programs. The predominant purpose for founding the school was to provide Christian parents with a Christ-centered educational environment where the home, church and school worked together, each mutually supporting the other. The belief was (and is) that our children should experience and gain an understanding of God’s great love for them, and rely on His word as the foundation for all wisdom and learning. At PCS PreK-8, the truths of Scripture have provided a light and a path to teach students to understand our great God, his world, and their place in it.

    Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory

Since 1974, Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory has striven to create a community of spiritual nurturing and academic excellence for students from preschool through upper school. Students arriving on campus immediately encounter caring staff and faculty who enthusiastically embrace the challenge of mentoring them towards outstanding academic achievement. Equipping young minds at PVCP and grounding them in biblical truth is not only our mission, but our passion. This results in graduates who perform at top levels intellectually and are critical thinkers who pursue God’s truth throughout their lives. PVCP takes seriously the spiritual development of the students, recognizing individual needs in the process of their spiritual growth. Through a non-denominational approach that emphasizes understanding, articulating, applying, and defending Christian worldview, PVCP prepares students to be salt and light in an age of unbelief. Students leave PVCP understanding their purpose in the world and in God's Kingdom. In addition to all subjects being approached through a Christian worldview, students progress through Bible classes that increase their knowledge, deepen their faith, and sharpen their ability to defend God’s Word. Lower school students explore biblical themes and key stories from the Old and New Testaments, while middle school students learn to approach the Bible as a cohesive narrative of God’s redemption of mankind, and culminate with an apologetics course their eighth grade year. Upper school students go even further, surveying competing worldviews and philosophies while studying the historical roots of the Christian faith. Seniors finish with Systematic Apologetics and Theology, emerging as skilled biblical scholars capable of reaching out to a fallen world with confidence and grace. All students attend weekly, age-appropriate chapels, and regular service opportunities allow students to practice putting others before themselves.

St Vincent de Paul Catholic School

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School is located in a part of West Phoenix called Maryvale and opened its doors in the fall of 1959. It was founded by the Vincentian priests and the Daughters of Charity, whose charism is service to persons who are poor. In its first year, the school served children in grades one through five with four Daughters of Charity and one lay teacher. One grade was added each year through 1962, and in 1966 a Kindergarten was added. As the needs of the families in the area grew, so did the school, growing to a peak enrollment of 787 in 1966 with two classes of each grade. In the years since, enrollment decreased with numbers dropping below 250 students at its lowest point. By 1989, the school reverted back to a single class per grade. Within the last several years, there has been a gradual increase in enrollment. In 2012, the school grew to one preschool and double grades pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. The charism of the Daughters of Charity has inspired SvdP to serve families for over fifty years in a unique way. We provide a Catholic education to all you truly desire it. St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School responsibly and boldly uses its resources to honor the commitment to make Catholic education affordable and accessible to all families who desire it.

    Desert Dawn Private School

Nick and Jane Couvdos established Desert Dawn Private School in 1987 in order to provide a safe, loving, educational environment where families could feel good leaving their children. For almost 10 years the preschool was an extension of the Couvdos family home. However, in 1996 the school took on a huge expansion, and the home was converted into the school we have today. Now, 30+ years after first opening its doors, Desert Dawn has been able to combine the hominess of those first 10 years with the leading educational strategies of today. Desert Dawn offers an integrated, child-centered program. Our goal is to develop the "whole" child in a balanced manner. Our educational approach includes discovery learning through challenging "hands-on" learning centers, a whole language program, fine arts, science and math. Desert Dawn boasts two playgrounds offering ample room for physical development, creative expression, and social interaction. By becoming active members of the school, the children develop positive self-esteem and a real sense of their own worth which transfers into all areas of their young lives.
