    Omaha Christian Academy

As an inter-church school, OCA seeks to unify believers by emphasizing the basic Biblical truths of salvation. We recognize the Bible as God’s complete revelation and accept no extra-Biblical teaching as its equal. We interpret the Scriptures literally in a normative, grammatical sense. OCA accepts students from families that agree with the basic Biblical truths for salvation presented in this Statement of Faith. Those that serve the Lord as board members, faculty, and staff at OCA must be in total agreement with this Statement of Faith. If they change their views, they are expected to terminate their ministry at OCA. OCA seeks to maintain unity by emphasizing salvation by the grace of God through Jesus Christ rather than oppose differences. The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Omaha Christian Academy’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our School Board is OCA’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application. OCA admits students of any race, color, national, or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at OCA. OCA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, or ethnic origin in admissions policies, athletic and other school administered programs.

    Nelson Mandela Elementary

Nelson Mandela Elementary is a private, tuition-free K-5 elementary school located in North Omaha. The school is fully funded by the Lozier Foundation and The William and Ruth Scott Family Foundation. Mandela first opened its doors in 2015 after Dianne Lozier decided she wanted to create a unique school that would serve the community of North Omaha. At Mandela, scholars experience a rigorous and advanced curriculum, year-round school, frequent recesses, restorative practices in the classroom, and data-driven interventions. Team members at Mandela believe in a holistic education, in which scholars not only learn math, reading, and writing, but also skills that teach them to be the best versions of themselves, and Mandela families are deeply committed to engaging in the education of their scholars. After numerous community input sessions where a variety of names were discussed, the overwhelming support was for Nelson Mandela Elementary. The ideals that Nelson Mandela held regarding education and its role in changing the world are what we aspire to as a school. Nelson Mandela said, “education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world.” Every morning our scholars recite these words and also say, “and I will change the world with my hope, strength, service, unity, peace, and wisdom.” Check out our scholars reciting our Mantra!

    Mercy High School

Mercy High School is a diverse educational community, founded by the Sisters of Mercy, focusing on academic excellence and inspiring young girls to become confident women of Mercy who embody faith, knowledge and compassionate service. Mercy High School will be the most welcoming, inclusive and diverse faith-based girls school in Omaha, with a strong focus on academic excellence to ensure that every girl reaches her full potential. Using the mission as the foundation, our Board of Directors developed a Strategic Plan that wants success for our students, every day. There are three-student-centric goals that are part of this plan: - Enhancing our academic offerings to meet the needs of today's student while here and after graduation. - Integration technology throughout the learning process. - Ensuring financial and facility strength through stakeholder engagement. All Sisters of Mercy trace their roots to their founder, Mother Catherine McAuley of Dublin, Ireland. In September 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy, as a place to shelter and educate women and girls. In 1831, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy. Their passion for teaching is what brought the Sisters of Mercy to Omaha in 1864. They have been part of Omaha’s educational community ever since. The Sisters opened the first Catholic school in the area at Mount St. Mary Seminary, located at 24th and St. Mary’s. That legacy of academic excellence and a faith-based education continues with our current faculty and staff who are committed to the values of Catherine. After years of planning and careful design, Mercy High School officially opened its doors at 48th & Woolworth on November 2, 1955. Nearly 675 students attended classes that year: over 150 students from St. John's, over 300 from St. Mary's, and over 200 in Mercy’s first freshmen class. Some things have changed through the years. The school has undergone renovations. Some things have remained the same. Historic Morton Meadows has always been our home. From here, we have welcomed young women from every area zip code for more than 60 years.
