In the spring of 1950, ten Kansas City families gathered to pray for the education of their children. They shared a deep concern about the cessation of prayer and the teaching of evolution that had begun in schools. They were passionate about providing a Christ-centered alternative to public school—a solid biblical foundation that presented every subject in the light of God’s unchanging truth. They were called to serve their own families and the Christian community of Kansas City— both in Kansas and Missouri. Through a series of miracles, God began to clarify their purpose and strengthen their calling, and the group grew quickly to represent eight churches. Just one year later, the Kansas City Christian School was formed. To be a vibrant, Christ-centered community where students develop a solid biblical worldview, grow in authentic relationships with Jesus, and step boldly into His purpose and perfect will for their lives. To transform the lives of those we serve by teaching them to faithfully follow Jesus and equipping them to impact the world with intellect, intention, love and service. is the main Scriptural lens through which God is calling us to serve. This verse is the main filter for which we accomplish God’s calling for KCC. The people who are employed at KCC view their work as more than just a job—they feel called to serve in this place, at this time. They are each committed to education and committed to the Lord in their own amazing way. Together, they are a powerful force for the Kingdom at KCC as they help students increase their knowledge of the world and the Word, build Christ-like character in their hearts and minds, and pursue an honest and authentic faith through a relationship with Jesus.

Whitefield Academy began as Whitefield Christian School in 1995 with just over sixty students. Started by a group of friends looking for an effective method to educate their children in a way that serves the Lord and produces academic excellence, Whitefield Academy has since grown to be the premiere classical Christian school in the Kansas City metro area serving 280 students and their families. We decided to use the historically validated classical method which seeks to work alongside the natural development of a child’s mind through three developmental phases: Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric. We incorporated the additional key components of a Classical education – Music, Athletics and Fine Arts. Our objective became to teach students how to think, rather than what to think. Our mission is to build a Christ-centered school that equips students to be Christ-honoring critical thinkers, clear communicators, and compassionate leaders, through the pursuit of academic excellence, in the tradition of classical Christian education. Our vision is to be recognized as the leading Christian School in the Kansas City area, preparing students for a love of learning and service, to the glory of God. Our prayer is that as we graduate generations of men and women committed to their Christian faith and determined to live out that faith in their personal, family, business, church and civic lives, such a developing cohort will significantly impact Kansas City and our nation.

Pastor Steve Houpe’s desire is that children come to Christ at an early age, to the life of faith and power. He believes in ministering to the whole child – spirit, soul and body. His vision is to see children educated in a Christian environment with a strong academic excellence emphasis. After much prayer and instruction from the Lord, Pastor Houpe was led to start Harvest Christian Schools (HCS) in 1990; where Dr. Donna Houpe is the Educational Administrator. Harvest Christian School educates students from as young as 6 weeks old. Children receive excellent instruction combined with the Word of God. The educational emphasis is placed on the Abeka and Bob Jones Curriculum, which prepares the students for future leadership. Harvest Christian School is irrevocably committed to “Training up Leaders who will Impact Generations!” Harvest Christian School is a Christ-Centered School whose emphasis is to evangelize children into a relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are returning Jesus Christ back to the classrooms. We are dedicated academically to providing an excellent and superior education that will impact their future. We believe that children should develop their God-given abilities and talents. Our teachers have the responsibility to provide opportunities for this development to occur. We believe children should grow in an environment that will cultivate a love for the Lord Jesus Christ, positive self images, and a love for one another. We believe children learn best from active participation in their environment. They learn from interacting with other children. We strive to thoughtfully plan activities and experiences that meet the developmental needs of the children and promote growth in all areas. Harvest Christian School is an equal opportunity institution and does not discriminate against employees or students on the basis of sex, race, color, age, or national origin.

At St. Paul's Episcopal Day School we offer excellent academics coupled with character development and service learning to prepare the leaders of tomorrow. In a compassionate and faith-based environment, students learn to be innovative problem-solvers who can think critically, use cutting-edge technology, and serve their community. With STEAM curriculum, project based learning, and small group instruction at the school's foundation, St. Paul's students grow into effective collaborators and ethical leaders. St. Paul's students experience embedded programs to help them grow as leaders and to prepare them for high school. Whether it's the buddy program across grade levels, middle school anchor trips, or the many service learning projects, the St. Paul's experience goes beyond core curriculum. In 2019, our Board of Trustees and school leaders created a strategic plan to guide the next few years of student programs, curriculum development, faculty growth, and school-wide initiatives.
