Igniting a life of purpose through the development of an educated conscience. On the first day of school in 1974, The Reverend Canon Stephen B. Swann and his faculty of two gathered their eleven students around a campfire, and they together established the principles that would become the foundation of The Episcopal School of Dallas. Our Founding Tenets of religio, daily worship; eruditio, scholarship; and disciplina, training within a community of learners, have continued to direct our mission to ignite a life of purpose in each student through the development of an educated conscience. In combination with outdoor education and service learning, these elements are essential to the ESD experience, allowing teachers to shepherd children through lessons that enable them to overcome trepidation, develop resilience, and embrace stillness. Though we have grown to serve more than 1,100 students, age 3 to 12th grade, we continue to know and love each child. We optimally challenge all students, capitalizing on their passions or interests, making our most advanced curriculum accessible to all. We shape our curriculum using the Hallmarks of an ESD Education: academic excellence and rigor, a strong sense of community, understanding of self, and a faith-informed foundation of values. Our community members live with honor, integrity, and respect for all as expressed in our Code of Conduct. ESD’s faculty and staff are the backbone of our institution and are paramount to the school’s success. They are committed to inspiring, developing, and sustaining excellence and strive to balance the rigors of a college-preparatory environment with nurture and compassion. Guided by the belief that we make our collective work better through the sharing of our practice with one another, our educators are committed to reflection, growth, and collaboration. Our faculty of lifelong learners models intellectual discovery, risk-taking, and continuous improvement. Central to the school’s teaching culture is its Episcopal identity. We value the dignity of every human being, as we believe that each child is a unique individual, created in and reflecting the image of a loving God. We are committed to establishing, maintaining, and nurturing a diverse, safe, and inclusive environment where people of all faith traditions are welcomed, valued, and heard. Essential to our Episcopal Identity is the conviction that diversity enhances the quality of an ESD education and is essential to the development of a well-rounded person. We welcome and celebrate diversity in all its forms, including but not limited to socioeconomic background, ethnicity, religion, gender, and sexual orientation.

Welcome to St. Mark’s School of Texas. Founded in 1906 as the Terrill School for Boys with 42 students, today we serve more than 900 boys in grades one through twelve. As a school focused clearly on the education of boys, our teachers, coaches, and advisors understand and appreciate the unique nature of boyhood. With challenging programs designed to inspire, motivate, and stretch our students, St. Mark’s is a place where boys can be themselves, develop respect for others, and learn what it means to be a man of true character and integrity. Our mission at St. Mark’s is clear – we seek to develop men of character who will serve with intelligence, compassion, and integrity. During the past twenty-seven years, I have developed a profound appreciation for and love of our students and teachers. While excellence and achievement are prevalent in programs and activities across the campus, it is the character of the people that defines our School – faculty who care deeply about their charges and students who give freely to one another to continually strengthen the sense of community. Courage and Honor are two words commonly used to describe the ethos of our campus. As the School motto, these terms remind us what values underpin our mission and daily work. If you visit our school you will quickly see that we have some of the strongest academic, athletic, artistic, and extracurricular programs imaginable. Our boys learn from teachers who are not only leaders in their fields, but are also individuals who truly love their work. St. Mark’s is a community that works together and is driven by a common purpose. I hope you find this website helpful and informative. At the same time, there is no substitute for visiting our campus and seeing our teachers and students in action. We look forward to welcoming you to St. Mark’s sometime soon. David W. On Friday, March 26, our faculty and families were informed that TSCA will close at the end of the 2020-2021 school year. Enrollment decline, the need for major capital repairs, the cancellation of all our fundraising events, and the pandemic have combined to make continuing into our 50th year a financial impossibility. We are sad beyond our ability to express. We covet your prayers for our scholars, their families, and our faculty and staff, as they each must make the transition to a new school or place of employment. Thank you for the many ways you have partnered with us in serving our community over the last 49 years. Our academic preschool is filled with developmentally appropriate curriculum to encourage even our youngest students to love learning from a Christian, biblical perspective. The program allows students to explore and discover in a warm and nurturing environment. Curriculum is carefully customized to fit the needs of bright and energetic young minds. Students are enriched in phonics, arithmetic, reading, and writing. Tyler Street Christian Academy educates by inspiring students to love learning, strengthening students with Christ-like character and Biblical foundations for living, and encouraging students to pursue their dreams and callings. Tyler Street Christian Academy’s vision is to be an excellent Christian school that develops servant leaders in a loving, nurturing environment.

Students may attend full-time for middle and high school or part-time with classes for credit, tutoring and mentoring, post-secondary counseling, and more. At Fusion, classes are one-to-one: one student and one teacher per classroom. Students have different teachers for different subjects, and teachers act as mentors in the one-to-one setting. One-to-one classes allow for a completely personalized experience for our students. Teachers personalize instruction for each student’s strengths, interests, and learning preferences. We’re able to customize student schedules to fit their life and needs. Students can take classes at a time of day that works best for them and can work around extracurricular pursuits. We believe that positive relationships are the key to unlocking the incredible potential every student has. In order to learn, students must first feel safe and understood. That’s why our approach is Love, Motivate, Teach. We first seek to understand the student and see them as an individual with the capacity to learn, which allows them to be a motivated learner. When students feel that level of care and attention, they have the space to be motivated and that’s when real teaching can begin.

At Good Shepherd Episcopal School, we start and end with children - your children, who we share for a few short years. Our exceptional curriculum and signature programs are designed to encourage learning through a well-balanced and meaningful educational experience for all students, prekindergarten through eighth grade. At Good Shepherd, our mission is to inspire your children to learn with confidence, serve with compassion, and lead with courage. From the first day of prekindergarten through eighth grade graduation, we do our best to provide an environment to achieve this mission. We ensure that our students are confident learners by encouraging intellectual exploration. We give our students many chances to feed their spiritual selves and build compassion by serving others. We provide various leadership opportunities across grade levels to instill respect, courage, and acceptance so our students make a positive impact on the world around them. Our early childhood program allows the youngest of our students to discover their own joy and confidence in how they learn. They are able to participate in a myriad of activities to uncover strengths, develop creativity, implement important socialization skills, begin to serve others, and even learn early leadership skills. In the lower school, our students continue to grow, discovering new interests, establishing strong moral values, and building self-esteem and confidence. In the middle school, our students continue to explore learning, identifying their gifts, stretching their minds, pursuing their leadership potential while remaining in a close-knit community where all students are being encouraged and nurtured. At the end of eighth grade, Good Shepherd students are well-prepared to matriculate to any top high school in the Dallas area. They have grown to better understand themselves and can imagine their exciting futures. This understanding positions them beautifully to participate fully in the high school search process, finding that just-right high school fit.
