    Kirby Hall School

Congratulations! You have discovered one of Austin’s hidden gems. Kirby Hall School is a rare and magical place as distinct as this city itself. Just minutes from the University of Texas, you’ll find the highest level of academics offered in a loving, nurturing environment. In this close-knit, caring community, warm and welcoming faculty engage students in joyful rigor that promotes intellectual curiosity and higher-order thinking skills. Here, students blossom, excel, and reach their full potential. We know when you raise the bar, children will never cease to amaze you. It’s quite simply an education beyond. I am delighted that you have chosen to consider us for your child’s education. I am in my 6th year serving as the Executive DIrector, and I could not be more proud of the school’s steadfast commitment in continuing to offer intellectually-curious students a challenging curriculum in a loving, nurturing environment for more than 45 years. While much has changed in the city of Austin, and certainly around the world, since the school was founded by Dr. and Mrs. Howard F. Rase in 1976, we have learned to grow and adapt, but many things have remained constant here at Kirby Hall such as: ● The highest-level of academics taught in a small, intimate setting ● Personalized instruction to meet the needs of every student ● Compassionate and engaged faculty with a genuine affection for maximizing the learning potential of all children ● Dedication to developing independent and critical thinkers and responsible global citizens who are well-versed in the values of kindness, humility and respect. Above all, we like to say that Kirby Hall is a place to belong, providing an education far beyond just the classroom walls. We are a family, and we are grateful for the opportunity to ignite and fuel the lamp of knowledge inherent in every child who passes through our doors. Warmly, Ms. Helen Roberts, Executive Director

    Strickland Christian School

In the early 1960’s, Corine Strickland began teaching first grade in Texas with her own phonics and memory program. Since that time, Strickland School has been dedicated to training children in godly character while providing them with the academic skills necessary to make them successful students and leaders in their communities. (Proverbs 22:6, 29 and Proverbs 24:3-5) All education involves religious training and thus it is essential to teach children the necessary subjects and skills from a Christian perspective so that children may become all that Christ has intended. (Col. 2:3, 1 Cor. 8:1b, Eph. 3:19) We salute you as parents who are committed to providing your child a quality Christian education and are willing to make the sacrifices necessary to transform your child’s mind and heart. (Rev. 3:20) We at Strickland Christian School promise to partner with you to give your child a low cost, accelerated education which emphasizes Bible knowledge, advanced phonics, writing and mathematics and includes other important academic disciplines. With these ends in view, we earnestly request your prayers that we might accomplish all we can for Christ’s glory. The purpose of this website is to give you an overview of Strickland Christian School’s policies, procedures and curriculum. We hope it will answer your questions and give you a clear picture of what to expect of our school.

    St. Stephen’s Episcopal School

St. Stephen's is a pioneering coeducational day and boarding school in Austin, Texas, serving students in grades 6-12. We offer a distinctive college preparatory curriculum within a balanced program of academics, athletics, service learning and the arts. Our mission is to inspire a lasting love of learning and spirit of service so that each of our students lives a life of meaning and enriches the world. Founded in 1950 by the Episcopal Dioceses of Texas, our school has a rich history of teaching students of all backgrounds and cultures to live together in community. St. Stephen’s was the first coeducational Episcopal school in the United States and the first integrated boarding school in the South. Our mission and core values are rooted in progressive, yet resolute, principles: honor all faiths and traditions, support equity and inclusion, respect other cultures and perspectives, promote social justice, serve others and be good stewards of the environment. Our student body comprises nearly 690 students from 25 Texas cities, nine states and 13 countries. Thirty percent are domestic students of color with an additional 19 percent of students coming from outside the United States. By interacting with classmates from other backgrounds, students learn to see the world through the lenses of others. This helps them develop a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our world. In this environment, students achieve their full potential by stretching themselves, making mistakes and growing from their experiences as members of a loving community. St. Stephen's employs more than 100 faculty and academic administrators; more than 50 percent hold advanced degrees and 38 are residential employees. Our faculty get to know each student as a unique individual by interacting with them in class, on playing fields, and through a variety of extracurricular activities. The student-teacher ratio is 8:1, and the average class size is 17. All these factors contribute to the one-of-a-kind St. Stephen's Experience, which offers highly personalized learning in a supportive and inclusive campus community, where students are taught to achieve healthy, balanced lives and become responsible global citizens.

    Casner Christian Academy

Casner Christian Academy has a rich history full of tradition and patriotic values that are rooted deeply in and governed by the Christian faith. Casner Christian Academy, originally called Highland Park Baptist Preschool, was established in 1965 at Highland Park Baptist Church. In 2008, the school became a 501c(3) non-profit and moved to its current home at Hillcrest Baptist Church. The school changed its name to Casner Christian Academy, honoring Ms. Lucille Casner, who had been an integral part of the school for over 45 years, and was the headmaster at the time. Ms. Casner began as a four-year-old teacher and later became the school’s music teacher and headmaster. Under her leadership, the traditions of Flag Raising, Sing Song, Christmas and Spring Programs, as well as Chapel, grew into the wonderful events that carve such special places in our hearts. With the celebration of Casner’s 50th Anniversary around the corner, the school continues to provide children with a foundation of faith and love that prepares their hearts and minds for the path that the Lord has planned for them. Ms. Casner’s Legacy After 45 dedicated years, Ms. Casner moved into retirement at the end of the 2012 school year. We have all experienced Ms. Casner’s love for our country and her fierce desire to teach our children to celebrate patriotism. Each one of us has been touched by her love, humor and true desire to give our children the very best. We all have personal stories of Ms. Casner and for years to come we will forever hear the ringing in our ears: “Red, White and Blue, I love you!”
