At Michelle Dirkse Interior Design, we pride ourselves on creating bespoke, client-focused spaces with innovative solutions that complement the personalities of both the home and its owner. We love projects that challenge us to push the boundaries of design.
Our hardworking, experienced team of designers works collaboratively to devise dynamic interiors that are both flawlessly functional and aesthetically inspirational. From private residences to retail spaces, new construction to full remodels, the firm's diverse talent can do it all.
With degrees in both psychology and interior design, principal designer Michelle Dirkse’s unique training allows her to understand both the psyche and the artistic foundation of the design process. After purchasing and remodeling her first condo in 2004 Michelle decided to pivot from a career in social work to focus on her creative side. Following a few years gaining industry experience, she launched her eponymous firm in 2013, employing her cognitive research abilities to discover creative meaning and analytical solutions in every project along the way. In recent years, she has worked with local artists to transform their original artwork into kaleidoscopic patterns for her in-house collection of fabric, wallpaper, home accessories, decor items, and more.
Michelle is inspired by change and transformation—looking at ways to elevate common elements to something of beauty and intentionality. Interior design allows her to create living, functional art pieces in which every project presents a particular puzzle to solve. Her personal taste runs the gamut from the subdued to the bold, the traditional to the modern, and the minimalist to the maximalist. She relishes in the opportunity to explore all of her aesthetic passions by working with a variety of clients, each with their own sense of style.
The traditional interior designer or professional organizer isn’t invested in the long game for how your family lives + so while you may be left with a beautiful home, it eventually fails. And it fails for one very obvious reason because nothing in life is constant.
We rely on home to remind us of our roots, who we are, who we want to be + who we hope our loved ones will become. And our homes are a continuous evolution of our wants, desires, habits + our routines.
Quite frankly, the set it + forget it way of thinking should only apply to your rotisserie chicken… not to, creating a home. That’s one of the many reasons why we’re outrageously different — because at the core our fundamental belief is that the transformational journey of creating a home is continuous.
And this my friend, is what led us to commit our lives to educate others + building an award-winning interior design and home organizing firm unlike any other.
EVER! We share our trade discounts with our members giving you access to the highest quality furniture, decor + organizing goodies from awesome vendors.
Because creating a home is more than one puzzle piece at a time. It’s about looking at your home as a whole in order to understand why the things you want are important.
Let’s face it no one likes surprises or unexpected invoices. The goal should be about finding the right solution, the perfect solution — not merely the fastest.
Imagine after a long + exhausting day, walking into a home that’s beautiful, functional + forgiving. A home with timeless style + livable luxuries made for everyday life. A home that looks great, works well + conforms to your everyday needs.

We aren’t here to impose our design aesthetic on you, or sell you stuff. In fact, we don’t purchase furniture for our clients, and we shop retail as much as we can.
All we want to do is work with you to create a home you love. We want you to trust our guidance, and not worry that we are recommending some lamp just because of the sweet markup we’ll get.
We don’t care if you ever buy a new sofa. If a new coat of paint over your old cabinets is all it takes to get you happy at home, great!
SO WHETHER YOU EXECUTE OUR DESIGNS TO THE LETTER (WHICH A LOT OF OUR CLIENTS DO) OR USE THEM AS A MAP TO TREASURE-HUNT AND CONSIGNMENT-SHOP YOUR WAY TO A HAPPY HOME… AS LONG AS YOU’RE HAPPY, WE’RE HAPPY!
Her ex had moved out of the house they’d shared, but he didn’t take all the memories with him, leaving her trapped inside four walls that reminded her constantly of an old and unhappy story. She had no plans to leave the house, but she knew she couldn’t keep living like that. So she grabbed some old paint from the garage and started making over her home (on a recently-divorced, between-careers budget). By the time she was done she had painted away the old story of the house, and made it a perfect place for her to start over again. It was such a relief coming home to a house that made her happy and hopeful that she wanted to help other people do the same thing!
THAT’S WHEN SHE STARTED THIS DESIGN COMPANY, WITH THE MISSION TO HELP AS MANY FOLKS AS POSSIBLE GET HAPPY AT HOME.
After a few years Rebecca started building a team, bringing together like-minded designers and design-lovers. Now we are a team of 6 (and growing) friendly, efficient, detail-oriented folks focused on finding practical, creative ways to solve our client’s design problems.
Because this whole company started with a need for change and simple design tools like an old can of paint, we know that design is just a toolbox for change, and doesn’t have to blow the budget or be about getting on the cover of some design magazine.

Designer pretention and snobbery set aside, you can count on intelligent, meaningful conversations – as brief or involved as suits you – filled with good humor resulting in imaginative solutions that work.”
Whether it’s service, collaboration, investigation, friendship or any combination of these you’re seeking for guidance along this journey, Keith will discover what communication style works best for you to get the relief you need to achieve success throughout the process.

From the moment they enter, people know when a space inspires them. When tasteful design and livability meet, it just feels right. Our approach, designed to achieve this emotional balance, is simultaneously refined and precious, modern and warm, and worldly but also of a place.
This philosophy follows the lead of founder and principal designer, Jon Rosichelli, who began the firm in 2005 and has been staging and designing in Seattle for over 26 years. As the team grows, we maintain a commitment to serving clients by helping them achieve their goals.
“This is my third experience with Jon and his team, and I am still very satisfied with a consistent, quality product and a team of professionals who do an amazing job of interpreting space, bringing in light and color, showcasing the home and ensuring that the property, owners, and brokers are in constant communication. I will continue to use them any chance I have. Thanks all!!” — Jill McCormick

Seattle’s Full-Service Interior Design Firm
Whether bold or muted, color is one of our primary building blocks and is fundamental to our design process. For more information and photos on this service, have a look here.
Both functional and stylish, we look for opportunities to use the natural light. That said, our most used advice is reading lights in every room and everything on dimmers!
We offer innovative design solutions for both living and working. The result is beautiful interiors that are both functional and comfortable.
By defining certain areas as multi-functional and through imaginative use of color and lighting, smaller interiors can be designed to feel more expansive and relaxed.
It is a pleasure to recommend Belltown Design for any interior needs in the Seattle area. I contracted Belltown Design to help me with a full interior layout for a condominium in First Hill. The team worked within my budget and had impeccable judgement. Paula was an expert at focusing me in and getting decisions made so the project would move along. I’m going to make some additional improvements, and won’t work with anyone other than Belltown Design to plan and execute the project. Totally satisfied.
Probably the most important thing you should know about me is that I absolutely love what I do. I help busy families reclaim space and style in their homes, and that makes me wildly happy.
Sure, a design degree helped me get here, but the real training has come from my twin boys. I, too, get tired of tripping over Legos. I also want to maximize style in my home without a lot of fuss. I understand the need for systems that simplify family life.
But the truth is, I thought about these things even before I became a mom. Working as a postpartum doula, I grew intimately connected to the needs of growing families. I did whatever I could to help my families thrive in the face of huge change. That’s why what I do isn’t just about making a room look pretty in nice light.
What I do is about problem solving with families in real and important ways. Making their lives easier or better through functional spaces that actually feel good. I literally get goosebumps when I hear how my clients have fallen back in love with their homes!
Clearly I’m fired up about what I do. If you are too, I hope you’ll get in touch. It would be an honor, and so much fun, to work with you and your family.

This perspective incorporates a lifestyle of appreciation for natural beauty & the perfectly imperfect elements inherent therein. Andrea maintains this design belief while collaborating with skilled professionals & artisans for truly one-of-a-kind design installations for her clients.
Andrea cultivated her design knowledge and expertise while at luxury furniture and trade showrooms, including time on Nordstrom’s Visual Merchandising & Display team leading remodeling efforts while designing windows and events for store departments, until taking the leap to open her design studio and boutique in the lovely Greenlake neighborhood.
Her passion for design continues to evolve with every new client and opportunity, using unique stories and densely layered experiences, to bring the design vision to life, to create inspiring home environments expressing each client’s personality and lifestyle.
Andrea is an active member and a current board member of Northwest Society of Interior Designers (NWSID), cultivating vendor and industry relationships while learning the latest technical product aspects and design trends. She also supports Humble Design, a local nonprofit harnessing the creative energy of the design community to “change lives and communities by furnishing the homes of families and veterans emerging from homelessness.” A true testament to how good design lives on.

At K&L Interiors we create spaces that express your style – designs that fit your home and how you live. Each project is fully custom, whether you’re renovating a complete interior, building new, or updating a room, kitchen, or bathroom. We take care of every detail, from concept and construction drawings to selecting and ordering your furniture and décor.
It all starts with our comprehensive ideation process. We work with you to discover your authentic style – a unique aesthetic that defines what home means for you and your family. An initial visit to your home allows us to learn what’s meaningful to you, share our expertise, and generate ideas. You’ll discover a whole new way to communicate – through images, textures, and materials. This process is what brings your vision to life.
Inspired design is just the beginning. We’re on the job from the first concept drawing to the placement of the last pillow and drawer pull – managing your project from start to finish. If something’s not quite right, we’ll make sure it’s taken care of, because we’re frequently on-site checking in.
We opened K&L Interiors to offer a client-focused process that makes the results all about you. After all, you’re the one who will be living, working, playing, and entertaining in the spaces we create. Our collaborative process allows us to tailor your space with the lines, color, and details that will bring you joy for years – even decades.
