Studio BANAA is run by Dane and Nas. Dane, a San Francisco local by birth, and Nastaran, a Northern Iranian expat who grew up surrounded by mountains and the Caspian Sea.
They met in architecture school and bonded over a shared love of everything in their right brains: art, design, craft. It was at this point the pair—with two different life journeys, and many different perspectives—united as architects and designers. They still hold some common interests: staring at buildings, absorbing art, being in nature, meeting new clients, throwing dinner parties full of Persian food. But their differences are what keep things interesting.
Dane—who studied business and economics before moving into the world of architecture—likes pondering future cities, the business of architecture (or the business of anything, really), and the craft of architectural drawing. Whereas Nas can more often be found delving into the study of villages and micro communities, resilient structures and materials, biomimicry and ecological architecture.
While their right brains are aligned, their left brains are always thinking differently. So when they come together, they can question, inspire and challenge each other to think deeper. To collaborate. And to explore new ground.

We believe in the power of great interior design. We share a passion for the sophisticated, the delightfully unexpected, and making the old new again. Our mission is to inspire and enrich our clients’ lives by creating artful, timeless, and fulfilling personal spaces.
We are ecstatic to announce KWD as The International Design & Architecture Awards WINNER for top ski chalet design with our project, Big Sky Retreat. With two shortlisted projects including 181 Fremont for top city space design, to be globally honored at the top is a massive achievement. Thank you to our design community.
A California native with a timeless sensibility, Kendall Wilkinson has emerged as one of the nation’s most celebrated interior designers. Establishing her eponymous San Francisco firm in 1992, Kendall creates bespoke residences with an emphasis on beauty and comfort. Her oeuvre ranges from Pacific Heights estates to coastal Mexican vacation getaways. Geographically her projects span the nation and beyond.
Rooted in classical design, Kendall continues to evolve her style, “As designers, we are informed by artistic, cultural, and technological shifts,” explains Kendall of her fluidity. “Ultimately, it’s about bringing the vision of the client to life.” The designer’s portfolio, which includes both commercial and residential spaces demonstrates this philosophy throughout. Kendall’s initial introduction to the world of design was through her mother, an interior designer, art connoisseur and style setter who was instrumental in honing her daughter’s artistic eye. “I learned from my mother to appreciate the value of color, scale, and texture and continue to draw inspiration from the fashion world.”
After a career in film and a stint with a rock band, Kendall re-discovered her passion for design while in Paris. There she studied the city’s architecture, antiques, and decorative arts. After a year of travel, Kendall returned to the Bay Area and continued her education at the Academy of Art. Today, Kendall Wilkinson Design crafts delightfully unexpected spaces breathing life into the old and blending it with the new. From elegant startup offices to artful private residences built from the ground up, the design firm combines a thorough understanding of space planning with the latest innovations in technology.

When she is not busy getting inspired, she enjoys playing tennis and illustrating children's coloring books.
Yanli joins us as a designer with experience in architecture and graphic design. After working as an architect in Tokyo, she is enjoying tackling more personal, client focused, projects with the team at gamble + design.

San Francisco Interior Design embodies a cohesive juxtaposition of beauty and function. We hold ourselves to high design standards and innovation without compromising our client’s aspirations.
I’ve lived in 2 countries, and 3 different geographical areas of the world which have impacted my way of looking at living spaces and what people call home. I’ve always loved the arts and DIY’ing. As a little one, I would day dream about becoming an artist or an architect.
When not developing my passion for interior decor, I help a non-profit organization on occasion and attend their organization events.
Lastly, I’m working hard to become a role model for society. Specially for those individuals that have gone or are going through challenging times as myself. I’m aiming to inspire and encourage people to keep following their dreams and aspirations with myself as an example.
“I am so glad I found San Francisco Interior Design in my life, they decorated my room just how I wanted and even they added a few extra things which it made it look even better and super cozy and the best part the price it’s super affordable. I’m fascinated with their work. Definitely 5 stars.”
“Freddie was extremely responsive and easy to work with.”
“Hiring San Francisco Interior Design was an amazing experience. Since I have had to spend more time working from home, I felt I needed to update my apartment. Freddie listened to my concerned and designed a renter friendly space that fits my roommate and my style. He was able to create three spaces that flow and work together while making my apartment fun and exciting to live in. I would recommend San Francisco Interior Design especially if it’s the first time hiring a designer because he takes out all the stress and anxiety and creates a space that you love living in.”
