Chimney Hills Animal Hospital was started in 1979 by Dr. Juen. After 34 years of ownership, he decided he was ready to retire and turn the hospital over to someone he could trust to continue to treat the clients and patients the way he had for such a long time. Several local veterinarians purchased ownership of Chimney Hills Animal Hospital in June of 2012. Dr. Lewis started in January 2013 as Medical Director and partial owner. As of January 2019, Dr. Lewis is the sole owner of Chimney Hills Animal Hospital.
Over the course of the years of ownership with Dr. Lewis, Chimney Hills Animal Hospital has undergone a near complete remodel, the addition of a luxury boarding facility, and grooming services. We have continued to practice the highest standard of medicine while maintaining the personal relationship with our clients that they have come to expect.
We continue to strive every day to keep up with the best practices in veterinary medicine. We currently have three licensed veterinarians on staff. To complement our veterinarians, our support staff has also grown over the last few years. We currently have three Customer Service Representatives who act as our first impression to the public.
They are the face of the hospital and strive daily to make sure our clients are taken care of. In the back end of the office, we have a total of six Registered Veterinary Technicians. Our RVTs strive every day to provide the absolute best nursing care to our patients. They have extensive schooling and training as well as continuing education and are some of the best RVTs in Tulsa! To continue with our support staff, we have a Veterinary Assistant who helps to make sure that the patients are always comfortable, happy, and loved on.
For our boarding and grooming, we have two Animal Care Attendants who focus on taking care of the boarding and grooming dogs and cats. From playtime, to clean up, the ACA’s are the ones who make sure your pets are taken care of and feel as though your pet’s stay with us is like a home away from home. Finally, we have a groomer who treats all her clients and their pets like they are all special.

Once upon a time, in a now-distant land called Corporate America, two friends daydreamed about opening a unique dog-focused business…someday. The topic came up several times through the years. A business plan was written…just in case. A marketing plan followed. Suddenly, someday presented itself and Pooches was born.
The friends are Pooches co-owners, Lawanna Smith, CPDT and Nancy Werhane, CPDT. Whoever said friends shouldn’t go into business together hasn’t met these two. Take generous doses of business know-how and marketing expertise, mix them with a healthy love for and knowledge of our canine friends and add a good dollop of humor. It all adds up to a great recipe for success.
Both Lawanna and Nancy have extensive backgrounds in working with dogs on many levels. In fact, it was their beloved Dalmatians that brought the two together in the first place. In the early 90s, the two began working together in the Dalmatian Assistance League—an organization dedicated to rescuing and re-homing lost or abandoned Dalmatians—and still manage the organization today.
Additionally, both women have trained and shown their own dogs in conformation, obedience and agility. A background in animal rescue combined with a love for training has lead them to pursue ongoing education in training techniques and behavior modification for companion animals. Both have also tested and earned Certified Pet Dog Trainer credentials. Their goal is to provide a full-service offering to help all dogs and owners maintain a happy, healthy relationship and lifestyle. This is the foundation of the Pooches business philosophy.

Doggie D’Tails is conveniently located at 407 North Aspen (145th). South of 71st between 71st and Delaware (75th) on the east side of the road, across the Immanuel Lutheran Church. If you are on the Broken Arrow Expressway, take the Aspen exit. You will turn to the south and cross over 71st street.
A longtime resident of Broken Arrow, Karen’s dream began when she learned to groom animals while working for her mother’s grooming business. With many years of experience, Karen has stepped out to open her own grooming business. Karen opened her first grooming shop in September 2007, it was located on Kenosha in Broken Arrow and her second location in November 2013.
August 2014 a client drove through the retail area damaging the retail and bathing area, everything was moved from the Kenosha location to 71st & Aspen. Because of how spacious the Aspen location is and Doggie D’Tails is continuing to grow the decision was made to keep everything together on Aspen, where we have expanded to over 11,600 sqft.

Sloppy Dog Wash was started by two young entrepreneurs in 2006. After struggling to give Milo, a sloppy English Bulldog, a bath, it was decided that there had to be a better solution. Self-serve dog washes are located in many parts of the country but no self-serve dog washes existed in Tulsa, thus, providing the perfect opportunity to start one.
Taking a tremendous step forward, Sloppy Dog Wash became a reality. We invite you to stop by, take a look at our facility, and witness how a sloppy dog becomes a clean dog!
