Kristie and Brandon are a Mother/Son team, and Kristie has built a dedicated clientele for 20 years here in the Arden area. In order to maintain a great relationship with our clients, she will always be the only groomer you see!! We do have our family assist us at the shop, but we are the only two that do any cutting or bathing of your best friend. We are trained in ALL areas of grooming, but our schedule only allows pet clips, we do not offer any hand scissor clipping for all over cuts. Peni opened Pet Stylista in Oak Park in November 2013. A graduate in Design from UC Davis and a 23-year career as an interior designer, Peni brought her artistic bend to her grooming business. Professionally trained at the NY School of Dog Grooming in Manhattan, New York, Peni started her grooming career on the Upper East Side before returning to her hometown of Sacramento.
Peni and Pet Stylista support many local pet rescues and charities. Peni has a long time tradition of dedication to rescue. While working in the Middle East for six years, she spent most of her free time with a small grassroots animal rescue group where she discovered her love of dogs and cats. Through rescue, fostering, boarding and adopting, Peni learned much about pets.
Chris studied kinesiology at CSU Monterey where he rescued his Pomeranian Yogi and worked at an upscale salon. He would like to train for physical therapy rehabilitation on canines.

When I first started Grateful Dog, I looked to model the business on the way I wanted my own dogs to be cared for: free to play all day and sleep in a comfortable room with other dogs and humans, free of cages. Building off of my experience as a manager of a Bay Area dog daycare and understanding of pack-mentality, I opened Grateful Dog in my home, offering daycare, boarding and group dog hikes.

Minimize the friction (Items that constantly rub against your dog (i.e. sweaters, harnesses, collars, etc.) will often cause matting. If you like leaving sweaters on your dog, we suggest a shorter haircut for your dog. We also suggest rolled leather dog collars for dogs that matt around the neck easily!)
