The story of Miss Kitty’s Dog Resort is pretty simple. It all started because I had a hard time finding quality care for my beloved Pomeranian, Miss Kitty. Time after time, I was reluctant to board her because I could never find a dog boarding facility I felt was good enough for a member of my family.
At the time, I was a licensed veterinary technician and certified professional groomer in Nashville, ready to start my own business. With the help of my late husband Jimmy, Miss Kitty’s opened in Nashville during the summer of 1991 as a full service dog grooming salon. Clients loved our property and location and soon started asking if we could board their dogs. We knew then that Miss Kitty’s was meant to be more than just a salon.
Four years after opening, we moved to our current location and then later expanded our dog boarding and dog daycare property to serve thousands of Nashville’s finest pups. Since she was a child, Katie has had a great love for all animals. Devin Komline founded Nashville Tail Blazers in 2015 after adopting his adorable mess of a pit bull, Hailey. Through conversations with other dog owners and inspired by Hailey’s progress with training, Devin recognized a desire for professional pet care services that prioritize dogs’ individual needs. On top of teaching group training classes, he began walking dogs in his neighborhood and running daycare out of his house (much to the dismay of his cat, Tina). Over time, his above-and-beyond approach to client relationships produced a wonderful community of pet owners who supported his mission and grew NTB through word of mouth. Nashville Tail Blazers expanded into a full-service pet care business in 2017.
We were formally a daycare and boarding facility, and as we’ve continued our education we’ve found that there’s a better and safer way to do things!
